Car rental managers have five things they’d love to tell you.
Using the Skip-The-Counter-Passes can get you in your car and on vacation much faster. Make sure to consider the terms and conditions before signing up for these passes. They differ from an online check-in. Online check-in makes the counter check-in process faster, but they are not skip the counter passes. Prior to leaving with the rental, don’t forget that Skip-The-Counter-Passes will necessitate you show your driver’s license and most likely the credit card used for the reservation.
Manufacturer Recalls: We understand your disappointment in not being able to rent the convertible you reserved, but if a car has been recalled, we cannot provide it to you. Its recall is due to the fact that it’s dangerous. Rental companies make efforts to remove recalled vehicles from their fleets, but occasionally they slip through. Allow them to assist you in finding a new car that will bring you joy when driving.
Please double-check that your driver’s license is still valid. If the expiration date falls within your rental period, they won’t be able to rent it to you. It varies from company to company whether they accept paper renewal licenses or not. What’s the point of taking a risk and possibly being rejected? Please ensure that you renew it early enough to receive the new official copy by mail before you come. Turning down your rental is as unpleasant for managers as it is for you. Ultimately, it results in a loss of rental income for them.
A free upgrade cannot be promised, but you can and should ask for one. If car rental companies have them to give, they will. If they don’t, they just apologize that they do not have one available. Most memberships for the car rental companies have a free upgrade available, but only if they have one available.
